Whose University? Our University.
A UCLA Regents committee has approved a 32 percent increase in student fees at University of California campuses, sending the proposal to the full board for review.

A 32% increase in fees is a big problem. Especially during the middle of the year, when financial aid for the year has been settled. What do we do?
As students, we voiced out. I spent my time protesting today with Samahang Pilipino, and I think we did a very good job. Keeping it non-violent, rallying other people to go to Covel Commons, making sure everyone was informed, and making sure that we stick together as an organization, both physically and emotionally.
As for students who are planning to go to college and have the UC system as one of their options, do not be afraid. Yes, this 32% increase seems quite frightening as of right now, but history has showed us that the voice of the people can actually be quite powerful and certainly has the ability to change people’s minds. Yes, this is a problem, but there are many options out there that we can discuss. Do not let this increase be a barrier to education. As corny as it sounds, it’s true. If there’s a will, there’s a way.
Where will we go from here, though? Honestly, who knows. But we tried to fight, right? Or wait, I’m sorry, we will continue to fight.
